Turner Talks Cloud Strategy at AWS re:Invent 2016

As Turner continues to make the transition from a traditional broadcast organization to a consumer-centric, data-driven media company, we are being challenged to re-think our approach to content supply. There is a need to achieve new levels of agility, flexibility and scalability to meet the rapidly evolving demands of our top media brands - including TBS, TNT, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim and CNN.
Turner Vice President of Digital Media Systems Michael Koetter recently discussed our cloud strategy at AWS re:Invent 2016 and how we are transitioning the infrastructure that acquires, processes and distributes media for consumer-facing systems to the cloud.
“Turner is doing more things with content than ever before,” said Koetter. “When we look at the end-to-end media supply chain, we are connecting content producers with content monetization platforms to drive Turner’s business across all of our brands, networks and products.”
“On one side we’ve got hundreds of content suppliers with too many studios to list, and on the other, we have outputs including paid TV, subscription video-on-demand, electronic sell through, broadband, broadcast, direct-to-consumer and connected devices. We have to get the content to all of those environments – all of which have a different set of requirements.”
