Turner/CNN go big at Cannes

The world’s advertising industry gathered this week on the French Riviera for the annual Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity as brands, media owners, tech companies and agencies gathered to debate and discuss the hot topics of the industry.
Turner and CNN were there every step of the way with activations throughout the week, including a dedicated cabana space. CNN’s Jeff Zucker and Casey Neistat, TBS/TNT President Kevin Reilly and truTV’s Impractical Jokers all took to the stages at the Palais to give Turner and CNN’s vision on everything from cultivating fandom to experimenting with creativity.
Members of the Turner and CNN executive team hosted a handful of exclusive client experiences, including at the Turner/CNN Cabana, a space that brought to life CNN Tech, CNN Travel and Great Big Story. CNN International Commercial President Rani Raad and his team hosted clients from around the world with hospitality and thought-leadership including a Q&A session at the cabana featuring CNN’s Jeff Zucker and Richard Quest, along with an exclusive client lunch with Richard Quest, and an experiential event in a stunning villa overlooking Cannes. Also at the Turner/CNN cabana, Donna Speciale, President of Ad Sales and Chris Linn, President of TruTV were featured on a panel moderated by Campaign’s Gideon Spanier. The panel was part of a larger partnership with industry bible Campaign themed around the future of advertising that also included a print and online feature, as well as a video series. Turner Ignite sailed off with a handful of key clients for a lunch gathering that afforded time to connect about the team’s ability to drive results through unparalleled advertising capabilities. The cabana space provided an ideal backdrop for daily mixers with industry influentials, including a dedicated media mixer to kick off the week.
Along the Croisette and aboard some of the branded yachts, several speakers from Turner and CNN participated in thought-provoking discussions. In a session moderated by Fast Company’s Bob Saffian, Turner President David Levy spoke to a crowd on the VaynerMedia Yacht about the power and future of premium content.Farther down the Croisette, The Girls Lounge, a partner of Turner, showcaseda mobile and print photo gallery featuring prominent women in entertainment and media, including some of Turner’s very own talent, along with a dedicated joint mixer. Speciale appearedwith leaders like Microsoft’s Kathleen Wall in as session moderated by Refinery 29’s Kate Ward, that discussed how the industry
can better populate and power the female leaders of tomorrow in advertising and technology. Attendees who headed upstairs to the IPG Media Villa, were treated to a lively panel discussion featuring CNN’s Chris Berend and Casey Neistat, along with Turner Ignite/Courageous’ Otto Bell, discussing the power of co-creation. The panel was part of a larger partnership between Turner and IPG, and the session kicked off with remarks by CNN’s Andrew Morse.
