CNNS LEADING WOMEN: BRITISH DESIGNER STELLA MCCARTNEY
Monday, December 15, 2014
This month CNN’s ‘Leading Women’ features British designer Stella McCartney, whose collections are available in 70 countries around the world.
The daughter of former Beatle Paul McCartney and American photographer and animal rights activist Linda McCartney, Stella has built a name for herself in the fashion industry - first as the Creative Director of French fashion house Chloe, and later as the founder of her own eponymous fashion label.
Part of McCartney’s brand is a strong belief in sustainable and responsible fashion. A lifelong vegetarian, McCartney has never worked with leather or fur, and no longer uses PVC. In this month’s ‘Leading Women’ she opens up about the consequences of that decision.
Now a global success, McCartney reveals it hasn’t always been easy. She talks about her doubters, growing up in the limelight with her celebrity parents, and whether her famous connections were a help or hurdle.
