Cubs vs. Mets on TBS Averages 7.9 Million Total Viewers to Deliver Network’s Most-Watched NLCS Game 1 Ever

TBS Garnering Network’s Most-Viewed MLB Postseason Coverage to Date
Live Streaming for MLB Postseason Up 160% in Unique Visits Across Turner’s TV Everywhere Platforms; Social Media Impressions for MLB Postseason Up 343%
TBS’ exclusive presentation of the 2015 National League Championship Series Game 1 between the Chicago Cubs and New York Mets averaged 7.9 million total viewers and a 4.5 U.S. HH rating to deliver the network’s most-viewed and highest-rated NLCS Game 1 ever, according to Nielsen Fast Nationals. Last night’s telecast – peaking with an average of 9.3 million total viewers from 10-10:15 p.m. ET – propelled TBS to win the night across all of television (cable and broadcast) in prime time, based on metered market delivery.
This year’s NLCS Game 1 is up 46% in total viewers and 29% in U.S. HH rating over the network’s comparable NLCS coverage in 2013 (St. Louis vs. Los Angeles Dodgers – 5.4 million total viewers; 3.5 U.S. HH rating), with increases of 34% among total viewers and 25% in U.S. HH rating over last year’s ALCS Game 1 (Kansas City vs. Baltimore – 5.9 million total viewers; 3.6 U.S. HH rating).
The Cubs/Mets game generated double-digit growth across key demos including an increase of 35% in People 18-49 and 20% in Men 18-49. Locally, TBS’ telecast earned a 20.6 HH rating in Chicago – the best HH rating for an NLCS game in the market since 2003 – and a 17.0 HH rating in New York, the highest rating for an NLCS game in the market since 2006.
Overall, the MLB Postseason on TBS is averaging 5.9 million total viewers through 11 telecasts, up 41% over last year to rank as the network’s most-viewed postseason coverage to date. The corresponding 3.6 U.S. HH rating this year is an increase of 38% vs. 2014. Key demos are also garnering double-digit growth including a 46% increase in People 18-49.
Turner’s TV Everywhere platforms are also generating significant increases throughout the postseason including 139% growth in unique visits, 55% in video starts and 29% in minutes consumed over last year’s comparable coverage. Social media impressions are up 343% collectively across Twitter and Facebook for Bleacher Report MLB social accounts over last year.
TBS’ exclusive coverage of the best-of-seven National League Championship Series, presented by Exxon and Mobil, will continue today, Sunday, October 18, with the New York Mets hosting the Chicago Cubs in Game 2 at 8 p.m. Sunday’s coverage will begin at 7:30 p.m. with the MLB Postseason Pre-Game on TBS presented by Chrysler show, televised live on site throughout the NLCS.
