Georgia State University Head Coach Ron Hunter to Join NCAA Tournament Coverage as Guest Studio Analyst

Turner Sports and CBS Sports have added Georgia State University men's basketball coach Ron Hunter as guest studio analyst for the 2016 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship airing across TBS, CBS, TNT and truTV. Hunter will join host Matt Winer and analysts Wally Szczerbiak and Seth Davis for NCAA Tournament first round coverage on Thursday, March 17, and Friday, March 18, from Turner Studios in Atlanta.

In five seasons with Georgia State University, Hunter has won 103 games including a 16-14 record this season and advanced to the postseason three times.  Last year, the Panthers won 25 games for a second year in a row and advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament following the shocking upset of No. 3 seed Baylor.  Following the 2013-14 campaign, Hunter was named Sun Belt Coach of the Year and NABC Region 24 Coach of the Year.  Hunter has won 377 games in 22 seasons as a head coach.

Hunter’s coaching career began in 1987 when he served as an assistant at Wisconsin-Milwaukee. During his six seasons at Milwaukee, the school moved from NAIA to NCAA Division II status and eventually to Division I, amassing an overall record of 111-59, including a 23-4 mark in 1992-93.  Hunter then spent 17 years at IUPUI, where he was named Summit League Coach of the Year in 2003 and 2006 and led the program to the conference championship game five times from 2002-10, including the 2003 title game victory over top-seeded Valparaiso.

First round game coverage will be held Thursday and Friday (Noon-Midnight ET both days) with all games available live in their entirety across four national television networks for the sixth consecutive year – TBS, CBS, TNT and truTV – and via NCAA March Madness Live.  This year’s NCAA Final Four National Semifinals on Saturday, April 2, along with the National Championship on Monday, April 4, will be televised by TBS.
