Jimmy Rollins Joins MLB on TBS Studio Team

Rollins to Make First MLB on TBS Pre-Game Show Appearance This Sunday at 12:30 p.m. ET

Jimmy Rollins, the 2007 National League Most Valuable Player and 2008 World Series Champion, has joined Turner Sports as a studio analyst for MLB on TBS coverage leading up to and throughout the 2016 MLB Postseason.  Rollins will team with 2015 Hall of Fame inductee Pedro Martinez and nine-time MLB All-Star Gary Sheffield as studio analysts alongside host Casey Stern for pre- and post-game shows on TBS, the exclusive home of the American League throughout the MLB Postseason.

The TBS studio team will also provide pre-game coverage for the final two Sunday MLB on TBS regular season telecasts (Sept. 25 and Oct. 2).

“I am thrilled to be joining the Turner family,” said Rollins.  “This is a fantastic crew that includes a Hall of Famer, one of the greatest all around hitters of my era and an excellent host.  I am looking forward to learning from their experience and contributing the knowledge that I've gained over 17 years in a big league uniform.”

“Jimmy is among the best players of his generation and his championship pedigree, deep knowledge of the game and vibrant personality will be an excellent addition to our studio team,” said Craig Barry, Executive Vice President and Chief Content Officer, Turner Sports.  “Shortstops are the leaders of the infield, a position where communication and a deep understanding of the game is essential.  With over 15 years playing from that vantage point at the professional level, Jimmy will add great insight alongside Pedro and Gary.”

Rollins, a three-time All-Star and four-time Gold Glove Award winner, spent 15 of his 17 big league seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies (2000-14).  He is the franchise’s all-time leader in hits (2,306), doubles (479) and at-bats (8,628).  He also ranks 2nd in club history in extra-base hits (806), total bases (3,655), stolen bases (453) and games played (2,090), 3rd in runs scored (1,325) and triples (111), 6th in walks (753), 8th in RBI (887) and 9th in home runs (216).

Rollins’s MVP season in 2007 included a .296/.344/.531 line with 30 home runs, 94 RBI, 41 stolen bases and National League-leading 139 runs scored and 20 triples in 162 games.  In 2008 and 2009, he helped lead Philadelphia to consecutive World Series appearances – including the 2008 Championship, their first World Series victory since 1980.  He also played for the Los Angeles Dodgers (2015) and Chicago White Sox (2016) in his professional career.
