Juan Carlos Urdaneta

Juan Carlos Urdaneta is president of Turner Latin America, a leading media company with significant operations across the region, including 19 wholly-owned pay television channels, a free-to-air broadcast channel in Chile, a joint-venture news channel and a thriving digital offering.  Urdaneta’s team also handles pan-regional channel management and advertising sales for the Warner Channel.  Turner Latin America’s key brands into five content groups: kids (Cartoon Network, Boomerang and Tooncast); general entertainment (TNT, TNT Series, Space, TCM, I.Sat, Warner Channel, TBS veryfunny, HTV, MuchMusic, Glitz* and truTV); news (CNN International, CNN en Español, CNN Chile and HLN); sports (Esporte Interativo, EI Maxx, EI Maxx 2 and EI Plus); and broadcast (Chilevisión).  Based in Atlanta, Urdaneta reports to Gerhard Zeiler, President of Turner International.

Turner Latin America has achieved tremendous growth under Urdaneta, making it a major contributor to the company’s global revenues. In 2007, the division acquired seven pay television channels, and in 2008, Urdaneta oversaw the launch of CNN Chile, a joint-venture news channel with VTR. In 2010, Turner acquired Chilevisión, a leading Chilean free-to-air network. The division most recently acquired in the Brazilian sports programmer, Esporte Interativo (EI).
