Michael Quigley Named Executive Vice President of
Commercial Operations, Content Strategy & Monetization for TBS & TNT
Michael Quigley has been promoted to executive vice president of commercial operations, content strategy & monetization for Turner's TBS & TNT, reporting to Kevin Reilly, president of TBS & TNT and Chief Creative Officer for Turner.
In his new role, Quigley oversees content strategy for the networks, including acquisitions, licensing and scheduling, as well as acquisitions for other brands across the Turner portfolio. He also spearheads TBS & TNT's exploration of new monetization opportunities and collaborates on the networks' digital investment strategy. Reporting to Quigley in his new role will be Valerie Meraz, senior vice president of content acquisition & strategy; Jonathan Melber, vice president of content commercialization; and Jeff Carr, vice president of programming & scheduling. Quigley remains based in Atlanta.
In addition to his primary duties, Quigley will manage and facilitate Turner's Creative Council, a team of creative brand leaders from across the portfolio who, under Reilly's leadership, explore shared opportunities and address collective challenges.
"Michael's made a real mark at Turner driving strategy for the expansion of the Turner brands beyond the traditional television screen," said Reilly. "He's a terrific leader I know we can count on to both design and implement new value streams for our world-class channels and content going forward."
In 2014, Quigley was named senior vice president of brand distribution for Turner Content Distribution (TCD), the domestic distribution and marketing arm for Turner, where he oversaw multiplatform deal negotiations, strategy and implementation of new monetization initiatives and client management responsibilities for major distribution partners, including Comcast, DISH, Sling TV, Verizon, Altice USA, Sony and Google Fiber. In that capacity, he was responsible for all revenue, content marketing and product opportunities for his specific accounts, as well as expanding the reach of Turner's brands and content to set-top devices, streaming video services and other platforms.
Quigley joined Turner in 2006 as vice president of business development & multi-platform distribution, overseeing such initiatives as TV Everywhere, dynamic ad serving, application development, connected devices, content search & navigation and digital business strategy.
For his work at Turner, Quigley was honored with the NAMIC's Luminary Award in 2014 and was named one of Multichannel News' "40 under 40" in 2011. He was also included among Cablefax's "50 Most Influential Minorities in Cable" for three consecutive years.
Before coming to Turner, Quigley served as vice president of business development and strategy for DMX MUSIC and was responsible for the distribution of the company's Asia Pacific pay TV music channels, the execution of the company's digital music business plan and the sale of the company to a private investor group. He previously served as director of business development for Liberty Digital, Inc., and as manager of strategic planning for Time Warner, Inc.
Quigley began his career as an investment banking analyst for Lehman Brothers after earning a bachelor's degree in economics from Rice University and an MBA from Stanford University.
