MLB Postseason on TBS Continues to Deliver Record-Setting Audience

Live Streaming Across Turner’s TV Everywhere Platforms Up 238% for NLDS Game 3 DoubleheaderSocial Media Impressions for MLB Postseason Up More Than 286% 


TBS’ exclusive MLB Postseason telecasts are averaging 5.3 million total viewers through Monday, tied with 2007 as the network’s most-viewed coverage on record through the third day of the Division Series.  The network’s postseason coverage is up 36% among total viewers over last year (3,862,000 total viewers in 2014) and an even larger 44% increase among People 18-49.  The corresponding 3.2 U.S. HH rating this year is up 33% over a 2.4 U.S. HH rating to date in 2014, according to Nielsen Fast Nationals.

Monday’s NLDS Game 3 doubleheader on TBS averaged five million total viewers and a 3.0 U.S. HH rating, increases of 32% and 30% respectively over last year’s comparable telecasts (3,827,000 total viewers; 2.2 U.S. HH rating). 

The network’s St. Louis Cardinals vs. Chicago Cubs telecast delivered an average of 5.8 million total viewers and a 3.5 U.S. HH rating to become the most-viewed and highest-rated NLDS Game 3 since 2006.  The telecast – peaking with an average of 7.5 million total viewers and a 4.4 U.S. HH rating from 7:45-8 p.m. ET – is also the most-viewed and highest-rated LDS game since 2012

Additional highlights from last night’s NLDS Game 3 doubleheader:

  • The Cubs vs. Cardinals telecast generating a 27.7 HH rating in St. Louis, the top metered market, and a 22.3 in Chicago, the best rating locally since the decisive Game 4 of the 2005 World Series.


  • Mets vs. Dodgers generating an average of four million total viewers and a 2.4 U.S. HH rating including a 10.9 HH rating in New York, the largest audience for a Mets game in the market since 2012


  • The Mets vs. Dodgers telecast peaked with an average of 5.9 million total viewers and a 3.6 U.S. HH rating from 10-10:15 p.m.

Turner’s TV Everywhere platforms are also delivering significant increases with live streaming coverage of last night’s NLDS Game 3 doubleheader up 238% in unique visits, 168% in live streams and 95% in minutes viewed.

Social media impressions for the MLB Postseason are up more than 286% collectively across Twitter and Facebook for Bleacher Report’s MLB social accounts when compared with the comparable coverage in 2014. 

TBS’ exclusive coverage of the NLDS continues today, Oct. 13, with a Game 4 doubleheader – St. Louis vs. Chicago at 4:30 p.m., followed by the Los Angeles Dodgers vs. New York Mets at 8 p.m.  Pre-game coverage will begin today at 4 p.m. If both NLDS series extend to a Game 5, TBS will feature a doubleheader on Thursday, Oct. 15, with the Cubs vs. Cardinals at 4:30 p.m., followed by the Mets vs. Dodgers at at 8 p.m. (with pre-game at 4 p.m.). If only one NLDS extends to a Game 5, the game will be aired at 8 p.m., with pre-game coverage beginning at 7:30 p.m.
