To Premiere at the 2017 Film Festival

Los Angeles, CA — The Sundance Film Festival has accepted three Super Deluxe projects in its first year submitting to the festival. The emerging entertainment studio will bring a distinct lineup that matches the unpredictable spirit of the 12-month-old start-up: The Chances (Shoshannah Stern and Josh Feldman), Bayard & Me (Matt Wolf) and Deer Squad (Pipus Larsen, Kenneth Gug and Scott J. Ross). The two short docs, Bayard & Me and Deer Squad, will run on Super Deluxe’s branded social media channels, while The Chances will be developed for television.
“We champion artists who have something unique to say about the world and want to take creative risks with us,” says Wolfgang Hammer, president of Super Deluxe.
The Sundance Film Festival takes place January 19-29 with screenings in Park City, Salt Lake City and at Sundance Mountain Resort, Utah. Notable alumni who started their careers with short films here are Wes Anderson, Louis C.K., Todd Haynes, Spike Jonze, Paul Thomas Anderson, David O. Russell, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, Tamara Jenkins, Jason Reitman, Adam Shankman and David Wain. The Sundance Film Festival has also introduced global audiences to some of the most groundbreaking films of the past three decades, including Boyhood, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Fruitvale Station, Whiplash, The End of the Tour, Little Miss Sunshine, Reservoir Dogs, An Inconvenient Truth, Precious and Napoleon Dynamite.

The Chances is a dramedy series about two deaf best friends who try to navigate their friendship through new changes in their lives. “With our show, we want to introduce the world to deaf characters, written by deaf people, who lead intersectional lives that are complicated, funny, and sometimes heartbreaking,” say creators Shoshannah Stern and Josh Feldman, who also write and star in the series.
BAYARD & ME
Bayard & Me is a 16-minute documentary from Matt Wolf about Bayard Rustin, the gay civil rights leader who organized the March on Washington and later adopted his partner because same-sex marriage was not yet legal. Wolf is an award-winning filmmaker based in New York whose recent projects include the HBO documentary It’s Me, Hilary: The Man Who Drew Eloise, executive produced by Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner, and the film Teenage about the birth of youth culture.
Bayard & Me will compete in the Shorts Programming section. For more information, visit: http://mattwolf.info/Bayard-Me

Deer Squad is a short doc that follows the overnight Internet fame of Kelvin Peña, a charismatic high schooler from rural Pennsylvania, who went viral in 2016 after befriending a group of wild deer and posting videos with them on his Twitter and Instagram accounts.
Deer Squad, directed by Pipus Larsen, Kenneth Gug, and Scott J. Ross will compete in the Shorts Programming section. For more information, visit: http://publiccinemaclub.com
