TURNER CLASSIC MOVIES (TCM) ANNOUNCES LAUNCH OF NEW E-COMMERCE STORE
Online Store Now Open Promoting TCM’s Summer Of Darkness Programming Event
Turner Classic Movies (TCM) today announced the launch of an online store, Darkness: The Film Noir Collection, offering high-end, noir-inspired accessories, clothing and other items. The online store, open today and launched to promote Summer of Darkness, TCM’s ultimate film noir programming event beginning June 5, can be accessed at tcm.com/summerofdarkness. Items in the store range from a beautifully restored mint condition 1941 Lincoln Continental, a popular model in the noir film genre seen in such classics as Detour (1945) and Dead Reckoning (1947) to period-style fedoras and kettle phones, Persol sunglasses and sterling silver cocktail sets.
“Launching a noir-themed e-commerce store offers fans another opportunity to engage and interact with our Summer of Darkness programming event both on and off screen,” said Jennifer Dorian, general manager of Turner Classic Movies. “We are always looking for new and exciting brand extension opportunities for TCM and this provided the perfect opportunity to bring fans additional classic film lifestyle experiences.”
The e-commerce store joins several other interactive initiatives TCM has launched in conjunction with it’s Summer of Darkness programming event which airs for 24 hours every Friday in June in July. In addition to the store fans can participate in an open online multimedia course taught by Ball State University along with several social activations that provide additional engagement opportunities.
