“We represent a diverse portfolio of leading businesses. As our brands continue to grow, so do the demands for custom marketing opportunities across our networks, digital and mobile platforms; thus, dictating a need for a centralized person to manage these integrated activations,” said Speciale. “Dan has done an incredible job in his previous role overseeing the Turner Entertainment integration group and will bring that drive, creativity and strategic focus to the larger portfolio.”
Riess joined Turner in 1997 and has since held a multitude of ascending positions in key strategic groups. Prior to his current role, he was senior vice president of integrated marketing for Turner Entertainment Ad Sales and Marketing and played a vital role in the development of Now Media, a portfolio of 2014/15 Upfront offerings that married the benefits of both television and digital for today’s brand marketer. Riess joined Turner Entertainment’s ad sales division after serving as vice president of marketing and ad solutions for the Turner New Products Group, where he led efforts generating, executing and managing new products for strategic growth across linear and non-traditional platforms for the company. During this time, he was part of the team that spearheaded the launch of TVinContext, which improved advertising effectiveness by running an advertiser’s creative adjacent to contextually relevant scenes, across a large in-house feature film library. Riess has also held positions in Turner’s Strategic Planning and Turner Marketing Solutions Group, and played a key role in developing innovative product offerings for Turner’s Entertainment and News divisions. He began his career in marketing at EMI Music/EMI Records.
Under Riess’ leadership he and his teams have been recognized with over 40 awards for creative excellence and effectiveness, including their contributions toward the Emmy-winning CONAN sync app, with AT&T as the launch partner.
