Turner Sports will launch an “NBA on TNT Road Show” – themed around the popular Emmy Award-winning Inside the NBA – beginning with 2016-17 NBA Opening Night in Cleveland on Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 3 p.m. ET. The “NBA on TNT Road Show,” a series of multifaceted fan friendly attractions aligned with select tent pole events throughout the NBA season, will include live telecasts featuring TNT’s Sports Emmy Award winning Inside the NBA studio team, musical performances, interactive fan experiences, pop-up stores, food trucks and more.
The Opening Night “NBA on TNT Road Show,” a 75,000 square foot interactive space located outside the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Quicken Loans Arena, will be anchored by TNT’s Inside the NBA studio team of Ernie Johnson, Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith and Shaquille O’Neal providing pre-game, halftime and post-game coverage from a set location on site. The “Road Show” in Cleveland will also include a musical performance by Grammy-nominated rapper and songwriter Wiz Khalifa highlighting the day’s activities.
Khalifa will perform live from the “Road Show” stage prior to the Opening Night game with portions of the concert shown as part of the TNT telecast. Khalifa has soared in popularity including the release of “See You Again” in 2015, claiming the top spot in the Billboard Hot 100 for 12 straight weeks. The song earned three Grammy nominations, three Teen Choice Awards and a Golden Globe nomination. American Express is the official sponsor of the “Road Show” stage and the post-performance viewing party outside of the arena.
TNT will officially tip off the season with a doubleheader showcasing the defending NBA Champion Cavaliers hosting the New York Knicks at 7 p.m., followed by the Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs at 10:30 p.m. The night’s coverage will begin with pre-game programming at 5 p.m. including the Cavaliers ring ceremony.
Interactive fan experiences for the “NBA on TNT Road Show” in Cleveland include:
TNT Personality Themed Activities
Guests can enjoy experiences inspired by the Inside the NBA studio team. Fans can learn from professional deejays at “DJ Diesel Academy,” race to “Kenny the Jet’s Big Board,” pick up their own Ernie-inspired NBA on TNT foam bowties, and sample a treat at “Chuck’s Donut Truck.”
On-Court Hoops Experience
Located at the heart of the activation, NBA fans can show off their hoop skills on the Road Show Court. Planned activities throughout the afternoon include on-court contests beginning at 3:15 p.m., along with a Jr. NBA Clinic starting at 7 p.m.
“Singer Slam” Studio
If passing, shooting and dribbling isn’t your thing, but singing is your game, a lip sync studio modeled after the Inside team’s own lip sync performances – “NBA on TNT Singer Slam” – will be set up adjacent to the basketball court.
NBA on TNT Premium Merchandise
For the first time ever, NBA on TNT premium merchandise will be available for sale at the “Road Show” Store, including hats and hoodies. Fans that want to “Put that on a t-shirt” – just like Shaq and “Underdog” – can visit a special custom t-shirt design area with complimentary merchandise.
Inside the NBA Themed Food
An NBA on TNT themed food truck will feature some of the Inside foursome’s favorite fare including Shaq’s BBQ Chicken, Ernie’s Cheese Grits, Kenny’s “Queens Dogs” and tater tots with yum-yum sauce. Chuck’s Donut Truck offering “Mini Chucks” donut holes, “Sir Charles Parfaits,” the “Double-Double” Ice Cream Sundae and “Chuck’s Main Squeeze” lemonade will also be on site.
