Alex Gonzalez Joins as Senior Vice President, Brand Distribution
Turner announced today that Tyler Moody and Alex Gonzalez have joined Turner Content Distribution (TCD), the domestic distribution and marketing arm of Turner. Moody joins as the head of a newly created department in the role of vice president and general manager of Turner Podcast Network and Gonzalez as senior vice president of brand distribution. Both Moody and Gonzalez will be based in Atlanta and will report to Jennifer Mirgorod, executive vice president of brand distribution.
Moody is taking on a leadership role in a newly created department to lead the company’s efforts on developing and creating a portfolio-wide network of podcasts across Turner’s news, sports and entertainment brands. In this capacity, he will oversee publishing and production efforts, providing the brands with content development support, operational management and podcast distribution as well as coordinate with sales to develop a promotional marketing strategy for all properties. Moody will work to increase the current podcast offerings for Adult Swim, Bleacher Report and CNN, and create additional podcasts for Turner’s roster of other brands including Cartoon Network, ELEAGUE, NBA Digital and truTV.
Previously, Moody served as vice president at CNN Newsource Sales where he managed the digital audio business for CNN including handling the licensing of CNN Newsource & CNN Wire content to terrestrial radio affiliates as well as oversaw the licensing of the CNN Collection, CNN’s full archive of video content.
"Tyler's innovative and strategic vision helped create a centralized department to spearhead podcasting for the company that will help produce strategic, 360-degree brand extension opportunities for Turner’s leading networks and brands," said Jennifer Mirgorod. "I'm confident Tyler will successfully grow Turner’s footprint in the podcast space to bring new and original content to our fans."
Gonzalez will oversee all account management functions for Turner’s major domestic distribution clients including Comcast, Dish, Verizon, Altice, PlayStation Vue and Google Fiber. Gonzalez will be charged with growing revenue, marketing and product opportunities among Turner’s distribution partners, as well as expanding linear and on demand content distribution opportunities between Turner and its domestic MVPD partners. He will also manage strategy and execution for ad integration initiatives with Turner’s distribution partners and play an instrumental role during negotiations for affiliate contract renewals.
Prior to joining TCD, Gonzalez served as senior vice president of corporate development and digital media for Turner Latin America, where he was responsible for strategic planning, business development and mergers & acquisition efforts in support of new growth initiatives and digital ventures in Latin America.
"Alex is an experienced leader whose extensive and diverse skillset will be imperative in helping to set the strategy for our future partnership opportunities with our distribution partners," said Jennifer Mirgorod. "He brings thoughtful oversight as well as superb leadership and management skills into this role, and I’m confident he will be a major contributor to Turner’s monetization growth moving forward."
