What qualifies a business as minority-owned?
The term "minority-owned business" shall mean a business that is at least 51 percent owned by one or more minority individuals or in the case of a publicly-owned business, at least 51 percent of the stock of which is owned by one or more individuals whose management and daily business operations are controlled by one or more minority individuals.
What qualifies a business as being women-owned?
The term "women-owned business" shall mean a business that is at least 51 percent owned by one or more minority individuals or in the case of a publicly-owned business, at least 51 percent of the stock of which is owned by one or more minority individuals whose management and daily business operations are controlled by one or more women.
Does certification ensure that I will be able to do business with TBS, Inc.?
No. The Supplier Diversity program helps companies to be considered for potential business with TBS, Inc; however, it does not guarantee they will obtain that business.
Is certification a requirement to do business with TBS, Inc.?
Yes. Local, state and/or federal certification is a requirement for participation in the TBS, Inc. Supplier Diversity program. We also accept certifications from minority and women business organizations.
How can I be sure my business meets the Supplier Diversity program guidelines?
The office of the Supplier Diversity program will receive your application and review whether or not you meet our guidelines.
What criteria do you use when selecting a supplier?
The criteria we use to select small, minority- or women-owned businesses are the same ones we use to select majority suppliers. This includes the ability to offer a product or service that is of high quality, competitively priced, and that comes with an assurance of excellent customer service.
