Can you believe that on Nov. 18, it will have been twenty years since Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup burst into our hearts and used their girl powers to save the world before bedtime? Time flies as fast as these huge-eyed superheroes, and Cartoon Network is celebrating the original female empowerment brand in ways that would make even Mojo Jojo happy.

First , five women artists from around the world were chosen to create seven seconds of animation of “The Powerpuff Girls” in their own unique style. Over thirty artists were considered before the final five were chosen. Each animator was then asked to deliver their final frames as a starting point for the next animator in the line-up, so that one seamless piece could be created. Both the original and new theme songs were mixed together to create a new musical world for the animation. And here is the mind-blowing result:

Twenty years ago, “The Powerpuff Girls” introduced a cultural narrative about empowered girls who could change the world. On Nov. 14, a special EMPOWERPUFF panel took place in Atlanta. It explored how to embrace personal empowerment, while focusing on the future of how girls and young women are driving change in their communities, businesses and the world at large.

Panelists included moderator Jess Weiner, CEO and Cultural Changemaker with over two decades of experience in the business of empowerment, Turner’s own Christina Miller (President, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim and Boomerang) Ariana Romero, TV writer for Refinery 29 and Soraya Chemaly, award-winning writer and media critic.

In addition, Cartoon Network is celebrating two decades of inspiring girls and women of all ages with the inaugural EMPOWERPUFF Internship. Selected candidates will act as official ambassadors of “The Powerpuff Girls,” working behind the scenes in production and marketing, while also being advocates for empowerment, positivity and sisterhood across CN’s social platforms. Full details can be found here.

There is also an EMPOWERPUFF statement you can wear! Cartoon Network and Lingua Franca present an exclusive opportunity to purchase a 100% cashmere black sweater, hand-stitched in blue, pink or green. All profits will be donated to The Lower Eastside Girls Club, and can only be ordered by emailing info@linguafranca.nyc.

And to celebrate twenty years of great crime-fighting girl power, cartoonnetwork.com is streaming the “Best of PPG” all weekend long, Nov. 16 – Nov. 18. So, tune in and relive all the action and excitement from both the original and reimagined series that was and is “The Powerpuff Girls!”
