Brett Weitz: Becoming head of TBS was 'scary as s***'

Brett Weitz’s career didn’t bend the way he thought it would. The Southern California native enrolled in UC San Diego as a pre-med major, his decision influenced by his community and its vision of success.

“I thought that’s what I was supposed do,” Brett said. “As a Jewish kid growing up in West LA, everyone thinks you’re supposed to be a doctor. And then I realized TV and film was always my passion.”

In this edition of “Conversations,” the executive vice president of programming for TBS shares the path to following his passion, including his desire to succeed in the media business on his own, without the help of his father, powerhouse producer Barry Weitz.
