April 13, 2017
In the world of sports, when you’re great at what you do people notice. And people sure are noticing Turner President David Levy. This week he received the prestigious Legacy Award at the 2017 Cynopsis Sports Media Awards in New York City.
His Hall of Fame-caliber stats show that he’s one of the biggest names in sports, despite never hitting the field or court. Levy led Turner's efforts in expanding its media rights partnership with the NBA - cementing the network's foundation for televising more NBA playoff games than any other network and extending the network's exclusive coverage of the league's signature All-Star Weekend events.
Previously he helped Turner reach a new, long-term, multimedia rights agreement with Major League Baseball, and also led Turner's efforts in the acquisition of Bleacher Report, a leading online multi-sport destination. In addition, Levy was instrumental in orchestrating a landmark deal, partnering with CBS for the television, Internet, wireless, marketing and corporate sponsorship rights to the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship through 2024.
Cynopsis pays tribute annually with special awards given to sports luminaries who changed the way their brands connected with fans across the country and around the world. The Legacy Award is presented to a media executive whose work has transformed the world of sports both in 2016 as well as throughout their career.
