Not your typical internship program: Turner interns share their experience

Looking to kickstart your career with the best in the biz? From high school to post-graduate opportunities, Turner’s internship programs are the ticket to gaining invaluable, hands-on experience at one of the top media companies in the industry – across our different brands, as well as in corporate, finance and accounting, sales, technology and many more. Work with us and we’ll put you in the thick of things, side-by-side with the best in entertainment, news and sports.

Throughout their time at the company, Turner interns have several skill- and resume-building opportunities, including personal branding seminars, writing workshops, volunteer events, and even a special “Make You Matter” day designed just for them. There won’t be any fetching coffee or making copies… we promise.

Turner’s 2018 summer interns may only have been here for a few short months, but the experience they gained – and the impression they left – will certainly last a lifetime. To get a glimpse inside their jam-packed summers, we put together a complete guide to our company’s internship programs, including descriptions and highlights from a few of this summer’s interns.

Still in high school? No problem.

Turner offers several programs to prepare high school students for the professional world, including the Turner Voices Internship Program and Girls Who Code.

Turner Voices is Turner’s signature philanthropic giving program that supports the arts in our communities and innovative leadership programs for high school students. The Turner Voices Internship Program is an eight-week summer program sponsored by Turner’s Office of Corporate Responsibility and is full of networking opportunities, volunteering, resume workshops and more.

“Every single employee I interacted with was so pleasant and genuinely interested in me and my future (either at Turner or elsewhere). Everyone is constantly trying to pour their wisdom and experience into any intern who will listen. They really do treat us as the next generation of Turner.”

Turner sponsors the Girls Who Code Summer Immersion Program, a seven-week program for high school juniors and seniors that is focused on teaching computer science skills and closing the gender gap in technology. The girls spend the summer learning tech fundamentals – from robotics to how to build a webpage – while gaining exposure to the tech industry and mentorship from women working in the field.

“I want to pursue a career in technology because I want to prove that women can achieve the same levels in anything as their male counterparts. I also love being able to create something really cool and innovative, and that has a lot to do with technology.”
