R.I.S.E. Business Challenge competition empowers young leaders

Innovation was on point for participants in NextGen’s leadership development program, R.I.S.E., when they faced off on June 20 in a friendly competition to help solve business challenges.

Six teams were each given a complex business challenge that a leader in Turner was facing. Working with a team coach, the teams developed solutions and a 20-minute pitch they would give to a panel of executive judges on competition day. The judging panel included Scott Doyne (SVP – Product Strategy), Jennifer Mirgorod (EVP – Content Distribution & Strategic Partnerships), Sandy Padula (SVP – Research) and Adam Cohn (VP – Finance).

The competition was the final project for participants in R.I.S.E., an immersive six-month program focused on self-reflection and skill development to help empower early-career employees to become transformational leaders within Turner.

From the creative team names to the innovative solutions presented, the competitors proved they could rise to the challenge (please, you know we can't resist a good pun).

Team Just Us League walked away with first prize for the solution they presented for Bleacher Report. They may even get a shot to pitch their idea live and in-person to leaders at Turner Sports in coming weeks. Nice work, Just Us League! Shout out to team members and coaches for crushing it: Shannon Clute (coach), Torrae Lawrence (coach), Daniel Weiss, Reginald Campbell, Destinee Clavon and Collin Simmons.
