See why great comedy is no joke

We here at Turner want to take a minute to address a very serious topic that will have lasting worldwide implications for years to come…

Just kidding – we’re here to talk about comedy! And we’re not just talking about one funny show or actor, we’re talking about the entire history of comedy here, the whole kit and caboodle – as in season two of the CNN Original Series “The History of Comedy,” premiering Sunday, July 15, at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

Yup, the critically acclaimed series is back, and this season includes unique topics such as carnal knowledge, the history of animation and comedy, sketch and improv comedy and those comedic geniuses we lost too soon. And with names like Judd Apatow, Conan O’Brien, Whitney Cummings, Steve Martin, Catherine O’Hara, W. Kamau Bell, Martin Short, Marc Maron and many more providing the commentary, you’ll laugh ‘til you hurl*.

*We really hope you don’t hurl from laughter. But if you do, please let us know. We’d love to hear about it.

Putting together a monumental series like this takes an enormous amount of teamwork within the CNN Original Series group, which develops non-scripted goodness for television via in-house production as well as commissioned projects and acquisitions.

One of those leading the way is Amy Entelis, a total rock star. She’s the executive vice president of talent and content development, overseeing CNN Original Series and CNN Films for CNN Worldwide. Another person who rocks and/or rolls is Lizzie Fox, vice president of current programming, as she supervises production of all CNN Original Series.

In addition, there’s a ton of support given by other teams like Marketing, PR, Scheduling, On-Air Promos, Digital and more. In other words, this is a big deal, you guys.

Here’s a clip from one of this season’s racier topics:
