Diversity and Inclusion in EMEA Diversity and Inclusion in EMEA

Turner's Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) headquarters is in London, famously one of the most diverse cities in the world, and we are working hard to ensure that employees from across the region reflect our audiences with our long running "Turner For All" campaign. With activities focused across LGBTQ, BAME, ethnicity, disability, and gender, Turner EMEA places great importance on the vital cultural drivers of equality, diversity, and inclusion within the workplace which are critical to the company's success.

Diversity & Inclusion Activities in EMEA

The media industry attracts the brightest and the best internationally and we work hard to ensure that this includes people from every section of society. Our diversity and inclusion efforts in EMEA include:

  • Annual "Open Newsroom" events in London, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai where disabled and disadvantaged people are invited in to make a news program.
  • Job shadow and mentoring programs.
  • Active memberships to the Creative Diversity Network and Media Trust alongside other major UK and European broadcasters.
  • "Aspiration Days" in schools to encourage children from all backgrounds to work towards jobs in the media industry.
  • The "Change 100" internship program for the disabled.
  • Sponsorship of the Oska Bright Film Festival, a bi-annual film festival for the disabled.
  • Assistance for disabled individuals to attend the Edinburgh International Television Festival.
  • Our OUT@Time Warner employee group and sponsorship of London Pride.

Turner EMEA also offers specialized training for employees around the globe to help understand unconscious bias — one of diversity's toughest challenges. We believe identifying unconscious bias is a critical skill to help us choose different, build deeper connections, and gain a better understanding for one another's perspectives and life experiences.

We also launched provocative training for hiring managers to reinvigorate our hiring and selection approach to ensure we are bringing new ideas, perspectives, and experiences to teams across the company. We're also exploring an opportunity to launch our first external writers / producers program and leverage the unique partnerships and connections we have in the storytelling industry.

Partnerships in EMEA

By working closely with our partners, we hope to promote stronger dialogue and diversity in the industry’s pipeline of emerging voices.
