2015 PGA Championship First Round Delivers Significant Audience Increase Across All Platforms

TNT’s Exclusive First Round Coverage Up 40% Among Total Viewers; Most-Viewed Since 2010, Managed by Turner Sports, Generates Double-Digit Increases in Unique Visitors, Live Video Views & Live Hours Consumed

Social Media Impressions Across Facebook & Twitter Up 36%; Twitter Mentions Up 80%

Turner Sports’ comprehensive coverage of the 2015 PGA Championship first round on Thursday, Aug. 13, delivered significant audience increases across television, digital and social platforms. TNT’s exclusive telecast from 2-8 p.m. ET garnered an average of 1.4 million total viewers and a 1.0 U.S. HH rating, up 40% and 28% over an average of one million total viewers and a 0.8 U.S. HH rating for the comparable telecast last year. 

Thursday’s PGA Championship on TNT is the network’s most-viewed first round coverage since 2010, which included an additional two hours of primetime coverage due to a weather delay. Yesterday’s TNT telecast – peaking with an average of 1.7 million total viewers from 5:45-6 p.m. – also generated double-digit growth across all key demos – +61% in Men 18-49, +60% in Men 25-54, +51% in People 18-49 and +54% in People 25-54., managed by Turner Sports, delivered considerable increases including a 54% increase in cross-platform unique visitors, a 93% gain in live video views and a 95% spike in live hours consumed.  Additionally, unique visits across Turner’s TVE platforms are up 30% over last year.

Additionally, social media impressions are up 36% across Twitter and Facebook for accounts managed by Turner Sports.  Twitter mentions are up 80% through the first full day of the PGA Championship.

TNT’s exclusive live coverage from Whistling Straits includes second round action today, Friday, Aug. 14, from 2-8 p.m. ET, along with weekend coverage Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 15-16, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. ET. will also continue to offer extensive live event coverage including Marquee Groups and Par-3 live streaming via PGA Championship LIVE, presented by Mercedes-Benz, through all four rounds.
