AT&T and SNICKERS® Partner with TBS and CONAN to Extend Fan Access at Comic-Con® International: San Diego

As fans of TBS, a division of Turner, and CONAN return to Comic-Con® International in San Diego for premier access to some of their favorite shows and talent, Turner Ad Sales has collaborated with two brands on unique partnerships that enhance the overall fan event. Sponsors of this year’s TBS and CONAN experiences include AT&T with unprecedented 360-degree virtual reality activations and SNICKERS® with a thematic multi-platform partnership featuring original superheroes and custom costumes. Both sponsorships include engaging touch-points on-the-ground in San Diego, as well as executions on-air, online and via social media to extend the fan-driven event to those at home.

AT&T is back to help power CONAN in San Diego with a multi-platform sponsorship that includes on-site activations, on-air custom spots, in-show presence and digital and mobile extensions. Building on the success of CONAN360 VR (virtual reality) at Comic-Con 2015, Team Coco and AT&T are bringing in-broadcast virtual reality back with even more 360-degree camera angles. Each night during the week of shows at San Diego's Spreckels Theatre, fans at home will have the best seats in the house with virtual reality access to content shot throughout the theater, spanning on-stage interviews, guest entrances, audience interaction and more.

In addition to in-broadcast executions, AT&T will power a unique virtual reality experience located at TBS's Comic-Con® International booth on the convention floor. Upon entering the booth, attendees will receive a VR headset shaped like a Conan Pop! Vinyl figure to provide an exclusive 360-degree peek into Conan O'Brien's world. In addition, a life-size periscope topped with a giant Conan Pop! Vinyl figure head will tower over the booth to offer a bird’s-eye view of the convention floor. For even more CONAN access, Team Coco will hit the streets of San Diego to capture the dynamic action and larger-than-life costumes of Comic-Con in virtual reality. Brought to fans at home by AT&T, users will be able to view all of the 360-degree action at and Team Coco’s Facebook page as well as YouTube channel in 360 or virtual reality using a VR headset. To amplify the social conversation, Turner’s social distribution tool Launchpad will optimize the 360-degree content via Team Coco social handles.

SNICKERS® returns to help TBS and CONAN fans satisfy their hunger to embrace their inner Comic-Con personas with on-site activations, custom costumes, in-show integration and branded content that extends on-air and online. In San Diego, convention-goers will be able to transform from fan to full-on participant at the TBS & SNICKERS® Satisfaction Station, located at the Petco Park Interactive Zone from July 21 – 24. Within the station, fans will have the opportunity to dress up as fictional superheroes created specifically for a branded content video. Photos taken within the station will be used to create comic book covers starring fans in costume.

Aligning with the comic book theme, as well as the brand’s global “You’re Not You When You’re Hungry” campaign, TBS collaborated with SNICKERS® to create a custom branded video entitled "Hungry Heroes," which features a comic book writer whose creativity humorously fails him when hungry. To maximize the impact of the brand’s storytelling, the video will take over full commercial pods via Turner Native Plus on TBS and Adult Swim, run on and be distributed by Launchpad via Team Coco social handles on Facebook and YouTube.
