NBA TV to Televise 2014 FIBA World Championship for Women


NBA TV will televise up to five USA Basketball World Championship Team matchups during the 2014 FIBA World Championship for Women taking place in Ankara and Istanbul, Turkey, beginning with a Group Phase matchup between the USA and China on Saturday, Sept. 27, at 2:30 p.m. ET. Coached by University of Connecticut women’s head coach and Hall of Famer Geno Auriemma, the USA’s star-studded roster includes Phoenix Mercury center Brittney Griner, Minnesota Lynx forward Maya Moore and Phoenix Mercury guard Diana Taurasi, as well as the USA’s only four-time World Championship Team member Sue Bird of the Seattle Storm. The USA team is the favorite to win after finishing a perfect 9-0 and taking home the gold in the previous FIBA World Championship held in the Czech Republic in 2010 and an 8-0 mark and gold medal at the 2012 Olympic Games.
