Turner Broadcasting Elevates Sandy Padula to Senior Vice President, TBS & TNT Research

Turner Veteran Leads Research Strategy for Programming, Digital & Cross Platform, Marketing and Ad Sales Teams

Sandy PadulaTurner Broadcasting has promoted Sandy Padula to senior vice president of research for TBS and TNT. A long-time veteran of the company, Padula is responsible for overseeing research strategy and data analysis for the networks’ programming, digital & cross platform, marketing and ad sales groups. Padula reports to Howard Shimmel, chief research officer, Turner Broadcasting, while also closely aligning with Kevin Reilly, president of TBS and TNT and chief creative officer for Turner Entertainment Networks.

“Sandy brings to this role a wealth of experience that has driven innovation for our research division,” said Shimmel. “Her insight into viewing trends and marketing effectiveness for both Turner and our advertising partners makes her the ideal candidate for this leadership position.”

Previously vice president of audience insights, brand and cross-platform research for TBS & TNT, Padula provided support to the division’s year-round content strategy. During her time, Padula shaped strategic research insights through test and learn techniques that effectively improved the company’s best practices across ideation, marketing and promotion ROI. During her time in this division, she also brough new research systems and tools to the playing field, including Turner’s estimating system and several marketing, ad sales and on-air asset-planning tools.

Padula joined Turner close to 25 years ago where she started within the CNN Research team. She has since been closely involved in major rebrandings and acquisitions, as well as long term forecasting for new business development. Padula resides in the Atlanta area with her husband, also a Turner employee, and three children.

Padula’s promotion completes Shimmel’s team of direct reports dedicated to each of Turner’s content divisions and assembled to effectively collaborate across programming, marketing, digital and ad sales departments on research insights and strategy:  Robin Garfield, senior vice president of CNN/HLN Research, Jeff Grant, senior vice president of Adult Swim/Boomerang/Cartoon Network/truTV Research and Jay Leon, vice president of Turner Sports Research.  Tom Cattapan, vice president of Turner Corporate Research also reports to Shimmel.
