The all-new Sesame Street episode “Meet Julia” will air today at 3:30pm on Cartoonito

[London, UK - Monday, 10th April] Sesame Workshop, the non-profit educational organization behind Sesame Street, is expanding their commitment to autistic children and their families by introducing Julia, a Muppet with autism, to the broadcast. Sesame Street’s special episode, “Meet Julia”, will air today in a landmark joint premiere across the globe. Viewers in the UK can catch “Meet Julia” at 3:30pm today on Cartoonito.

In “Meet Julia”, Big Bird is playing with Elmo and Abby’s new friend, Julia, when he notices that she does things a little differently. Alan helps Big Bird understand that sometimes people with autism do things that might seem confusing, but Julia also does some things that he might want to try, like the fun new game “Boing Boing Tag”. Big Bird, Julia and the Sesame friends all then come together to play and sing, celebrating how everyone is special and amazing.

Welcoming Julia to the Street signals Sesame Workshop’s strong, continued commitment to the autism community and further supports a rich new phase of their autism initiative, Sesame Street and Autism: See Amazing in All Children. Among the many creators and contributors behind the initiative, Stacey Gordon, who performs the role of Julia, and Christine Ferraro, the writer of the “Meet Julia” episode, both have close family relationships that helped them bring this character to life in a compelling, meaningful way.

Catch “Meet Julia” today at 3:30pm on Cartoonito. Season 47 of Sesame Street rolls out every day at 3:30pm on Cartoonito.
