TNTs Exclusive 2015 NBA Eastern Conference Finals Continues to Deliver Top Two Programs of the Night Across All of Cable Television

Social Media Impressions Up 158%; Live Streaming Up Double Digits vs. Last Year

TNT's Eastern Conference Finals Telecasts Averaging 6.4 Million Total Viewers, Up 6%

TNT’s exclusive presentation of the 2015 NBA Eastern Conference Finals – last night’s Game 2 between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Atlanta Hawks, followed by Inside the NBA presented by Kia – delivered the top two highest-rated programs of the night across all of cable television for the second consecutive time. 

Through the second game, TNT’s Eastern Conference Finals coverage is averaging 6.4 million total viewers and a 4.0 U.S. HH rating, up 6% and 3% respectively over the network’s comparable live game telecasts last year.

Last night’s Game 2 between the Cavaliers/Hawks averaged 5.9 million total viewers and a 3.6 U.S. HH rating to register as the highest-rated and most-viewed program of the night on cable television, based on Nielsen Fast Nationals. Additionally, TNT’s Inside the NBA garnered a 2.5 overnight rating, based on Nielsen metered market ratings, to rank as the second highest-rated program of the night across cable television.

TNT’s Cavaliers vs. Hawks Game 2 telecast peaked with an average of 7.2 million total viewers and a 4.3 U.S. HH rating from 10:30-10:45 p.m. ET.  Last night’s coverage generated a 29.0 local HH rating in Cleveland and a 10.9 in Atlanta, the top two metered markets.

Additional highlights:

  • According to Nielsen Social, last night’s Cavaliers/Hawks Game 2 was the most-discussed program of the night across all of television (cable and broadcast) on Twitter;
  • The Cavaliers/Hawks Game 2 telecast generated more than 38 million social media impressions for content published across Turner’s NBA on TNT and NBA TV accounts via Facebook and Twitter, up 158% over the comparable game window last year;
  • Live streaming of Cavaliers/Hawks Game 2 across digital screens – including Turner’s TV Everywhere platforms – is up 57% in live stream starts, 62% in total minutes consumed and 58% in uniques over last year;
  • Live video starts via TNT Overtime for Game 2 are up 85% compared with the corresponding Conference Finals game window last year.

TNT’s exclusive coverage of the Eastern Conference Finals will continue Sunday, May 24, with Game 3 of the series at 8:30 p.m. The network’s coverage will begin with a 30-minute NBA Tip-Off presented by Autotrader pre-game show at 8 p.m. live from Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland with host Ernie Johnson and analysts Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith and Shaquille O’Neal.
