PGA Championship’s Suite of Digital Products, Managed by Turner Sports, to Quadruple Amount of Video Content – Live & Real-Time Clips
PGA Championship LIVE’s Programming Highlighted by Complete-Round Coverage of Marquee Players via “Featured Group” Channels & Dedicated Coverage of Quail Hollow’s Signature “Green Mile”
Turner Sports and the PGA of America will offer a completely redesigned suite of digital products for the highly-anticipated 2017 PGA Championship – as Jordan Spieth attempts to win an historic career Grand Slam – focusing on broadened video integration and responsive optimization for mobile viewing. For this year’s 99th PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, August 10-13, golf fans will have access to four times the amount of produced video content pieces than in the past, including live and real-time on-demand clips via PGAChampionship.com and the PGA Championship App.
Enhanced PGA Championship LIVE Video Player:
The PGA’s digital products were overhauled with the objective of delivering compelling content and programming across all platforms in a manner that best fits fans’ consumption patterns and lifestyle. In addition to live video, fans can keep up with all the action on the course via a considerably expanded catalog of real-time video highlights.
Redesigned Mobile Web & Leaderboard:
The PGA’s digital platforms, managed by Turner Sports, will offer comprehensive coverage of the PGA Championship, including expansive live streaming offerings via PGA Championship LIVE. The Sports Emmy Award-winning video experience will showcase the event’s top players via its Featured Group channels. Each day four marquee pairings will be selected for complete round coverage – two groups in the morning, followed by two more in the afternoon.
Special for this year, PGA Championship LIVE will debut dedicated live video coverage of “The Green Mile” – Quail Hollow’s trying three-hole finishing stretch – Thursday/Friday, Aug. 10-11, from 12:30 p.m.-7 p.m. ET and Saturday/Sunday, Aug. 12-13, from 1 p.m.-7 p.m. Fans will also have direct access to broadcast feeds of the tournament through PGA Championship’s digital platforms as well as via their participating TV provider apps. Daily programming will also include live media room interviews.
PGA Championship LIVE Commentators
PGA Championship LIVE’s video coverage, sponsored by Omega, Mercedes-Benz, Arby’s, National Car Rental, Workday and Ping, will be anchored by Brian Anderson and Brian Katrek, along with analysts Billy Kratzert and Michael Breed. Course reporters will be Annabel Rolley and Katrek.
Leaderboard Adds Video
The PGA Championship Leaderboard – a hub for fans seeking live player scoring, shot data, course analytics and stat illustrations throughout the event – will now include a video player offering highlights of top moments from Quail Hollow. The new leaderboard will be available across all PGA Championship digital platforms.
PGA Championship App Available via iOS, Android & the Roku platform
The PGA Championship App will be available through iOS and Android devices and, for the first time, via the Roku platform. PGA Championship video coverage will be available across all three platforms.
PGA Championship LIVE Video Features
Along with multiple live video streams, PGA Championship LIVE will offer highlights of key moments, live scoring sponsored by Omega, Mercedes-Benz, and National Car Rental, “Featured Group” shot-by-shot graphic displays using laser-generated data, individualized player scorecards and advanced VOD.
“Minute-by-Minute” Content Streaming
Available via PGAChampionship.com and the PGA Championship Apps, the “Minute-by-Minute” feature provides real-time curation of photos, short videos, social content and constant live reports of all the action in and around the event.
On-Site Fan Experience
Golf fans attending the event will enjoy access to a wide range of content and resources via the PGA Championship app, including a player locator for Quail Hollow Club and live “Minute-by-Minute” content featuring photos, video, social content and liver reports. The “Golf Mode” feature embedded in the app will direct fans on how to use their handheld device while not disrupting play. The app also offers weather updates and “need to know” details before visiting the event. Complimentary Wi-Fi will be available at the course, servicing key hospitality and gathering areas for fans.
Social Content Gives Fans All-Access
Golf fans will be able to experience all the excitement surrounding the PGA Championship via a wide range of social platforms including: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Periscope and Snapchat. Coverage highlights include live programming, real-time updates, exclusive content and a special Snapchat Live story on Sunday. Additionally, innovative 360-camera technology will capture photos and video that will live on Twitter and Facebook, giving fans the immersive experience of being on the grounds with panoramic photos and video.
