Live Streaming for MLB Postseason Up 138% in Unique Visits Across Turner’s TV Everywhere Platforms; Social Media Impressions for MLB Postseason Up 365%
TBS’ exclusive presentation of the 2015 National League Championship Series Game 3 between the Chicago Cubs and New York Mets averaged 9.2 million total viewers and a 5.8 U.S. HH rating to deliver the network’s most-viewed LCS Game 3 ever and its most-watched NLCS game of all time, according to Nielsen Fast Nationals. Last night’s telecast – peaking with an average of 10.7 million total viewers from 10:15-10:30 p.m. ET – propelled TBS to win the night across all of cable television in prime time, based on metered market delivery.
This year’s NLCS Game 3 is up 92% in total viewers and 87% in U.S. HH rating over the network’s comparable NLCS coverage in 2013 (St. Louis vs. Los Angeles Dodgers – 4.8 million total viewers; 3.1 U.S. HH rating), with increases of 53% among total viewers and U.S. HH rating over last year’s ALCS Game 3 (Kansas City vs. Baltimore – six million total viewers; 3.8 U.S. HH rating).
Locally, TBS’ telecast earned a 25.1 HH rating in Chicago – the best HH rating for an MLB game in the market since the decisive 2005 World Series Game 4– and a 19.0 HH rating in New York, the network’s highest rating for an MLB game in the market on record.
The NLCS is averaging 7.9 million total viewers to garner TBS’ most-viewed LCS coverage of all time through the third game of the best-of-seven series. Overall, the MLB Postseason on TBS is averaging 6.2 million total viewers through 13 telecasts, up 44% over last year to rank as the network’s most-viewed postseason coverage to date. The corresponding 3.8 U.S. HH rating this year is an increase of 41% vs. 2014. Key demos are also garnering double-digit growth including a 52% increase in People 18-49.
Turner’s TV Everywhere platforms are also generating significant increases throughout the postseason including 138% growth in unique visits, 45% in video starts and 28% in minutes consumed over last year’s comparable coverage. Social media impressions are up 365% collectively across Twitter and Facebook for Bleacher Report MLB social accounts over last year.
TBS’ exclusive coverage of the best-of-seven National League Championship Series, presented by Exxon and Mobil, will continue today, Wednesday, October 21, with the Chicago Cubs hosting the New York Mets in Game 4 at 8 p.m. Wednesday’s coverage will begin at 7:30 p.m. with the MLB Postseason Pre-Game on TBS presented by Chrysler show, televised live on site throughout the NLCS.
